Weaving Traditions,

One Clutch at a Time

Maragatham Studio began with a simple desire: to preserve the ancient art of Kanchipuram silk weaving while making it accessible to the modern woman. Our journey started in the narrow lanes of Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, where the rhythmic clatter of handlooms has echoed for centuries.

We realised that while the saree remains timeless, there was a need for accessories that carry the same grandeur. Thus, our collection of handmade clutches was born — repurposing authentic vintage silk and collaborating with master weavers to create new, exclusive textiles.

The name "Maragatham" — meaning emerald in Tamil — reflects the brilliance and depth we seek in every piece we create. Like the precious stone, our clutches carry a quiet intensity that deepens with time and becomes more beautiful with wear.

Our Values

What We Stand For

01

Master Craftsmanship

Every clutch is hand-cut and stitched by artisans who have inherited their skills through generations. No machines. No shortcuts.

02

Temple Inspiration

Our motifs — Mayura peacocks, Gopuram borders, Kattam checks — are drawn directly from South Indian temple architecture, capturing centuries of artistry.

03

Authentic Silk

We source only genuine Kanchipuram silk from verified weavers in Tamil Nadu. The zari is real gold and silver alloy thread, exactly as tradition demands.

04

Ethical Luxury

We ensure fair wages for our weavers and artisans, supporting the sustainability of this magnificent craft so it may live for another thousand years.

"To carry a Maragatham Studio clutch is to hold a piece of history in your hands."
